Employee Experience during COVID- 19
While most people set resolutions to better oneself, advance in their careers, and build a healthy lifestyle — life took everyone by surprise. Covid19 stormed into the lives of millions of people with no discrimination, reminding us to step back and stay put. As the world hit pause, industries around the world, buckled up to continue business as usual.
With this courageous decision, employees supported the business vision and indulged in work from home. This is how we go the extra mile, right from the spaces of our homes.
But what happens to employee experience? Experiences tie people together, unite, and help create synergy and purpose. And, it is now more than ever, that we require positive experiences.
A compulsive stay at home experience like this has put a lot of people puzzling on what is in store for them. However, what we hear from most employees is the togetherness at home and the ability to appreciate others' work, in cases where both partners are working from home, is rewarding. Especially, a call from the office representatives like Human Resources / Admin personnel brings a smile as it reflects love and care. As we stay isolated, we must not forget to reach out to and stay connected.
Unlike usual times, people immediately start to speak about the global issue and not their personal concerns. There have been several sessions on health, hygiene, and safety. However, the most sought after events are the fun and frolic that people miss at work. Engagement is really high from the standpoint of productivity and this has brought in a lot of insight on people feeling the gratitude for the work during lockdown when several people around the world cannot have the same.
It is only when the grass is not green on the other side, do we reflect on our fields.
This physical distancing has brought a lot of closeness in the minds of people through various online platforms with friends & extended family members. This has also brought in a feeling of rethinking on the aspects that we have never thought about and searching for the purpose of life.
We believe that, employee experience works beyond physical limitations. In times of adversity, we stand together and build ourselves, and this is the strongest experience, we can carry forward into our lives.
