Apple Universal Control: How to enable, Compatibility list & Things we need to consider.
Apple introduces the coolest feature called universal control. Almost everyone assumes this from the title. Yeah, of course, you can control the keyboard, mouse, and trackpad with multiple Apple devices such as MacBook, iMac, and iPad.
What is Universal Control?
Universal Control lets you work with a keyboard, mouse, and trackpad between multiple Apple devices. Drag and drop the documents, images, and other files between connected devices. The macOS Monterey and iPadOS 15 are required for the universal control.
What do we need to consider?
The Mac and iPad used to have the same iCloud account, or else it won’t work. As soon as you bring those two devices into proximity, wifi and Bluetooth also need to be enabled on both devices.
How does it work?
When you use this Universal Control, you must have a Mac and at least one iPad, bring those two devices into proximity, you’ll move your mouse cursor to one side of the display and continue until it appears on your iPad. You can see the mac cursor on the screen of the iPad, and it works now you have multiple monitors.
After completing this process, you can access both devices and use your Mac’s keyboard to iPad. Again you want to use your Mac, simply move the mouse cursor to the iPad edge and continue until it appears back on your Mac, now return to the actual state.
How to enable and use Universal Control?
Follow the instructions
- On your Mac, click the Apple icon
- Click System Preferences
- Click General
- Click the Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud device’s box.
- On your iPad, open Settings.
- Tap General
- Tap AirPlay & Handoff.
- Tap the Handoff toggle to turn it on.
- Tap the Cursor and Keyboard toggle to turn it on.
What can we do?
Already we have used a mouse, trackpad, and keyboard to work across all your devices using this Universal Control.
With that, you can even drag and drop items such as images, documents, or media between devices — select it on your iPad and drag it over to your Mac.
